If you have ever wondered about recipes, potions, remedies, elixirs, herbs, poultices, spells, portends, moon magic, candle magic, spirit awareness, storytelling, signs and omens that were utilized by our foremothers and forefathers, this is the workshop for you!
The information and energy that will be experienced in this workshop was NOT considered magic by my paternal or maternal grandmothers and grandfathers. These traditions were considered necessary and used for survival. My family utilized these practical remedies, etc. in our everyday life. This wisdom is not kept for just rituals and ceremony, but is used for everyday mundane life. These handed down traditions are from my Irish and Cherokee Native American family. Some have been critiqued and some are as they have been for 100s of years. The term that is used now is "Granny Women." These "Granny Women" were my grandmothers in truth! Not all of them kept themselves separate from society or were considered different. They were regular folks, working jobs, farms, tending children, gardens, and going to church, yet their "gifts" were integrated into all walks of life. They were vital healers that utilized their gifts for their families and community in a most unassuming and practical manner.
Since it is Halloween, I will be in costume and I invite you to dress-up, if you like. If full costume is not for you, wear something that speaks to you that is fun or that you feel an affinity to. I have had participants feel a strong affinity to swords, period hats, period dresses, watches, shoes, or talismans. Some participants have expressed freedom of being able to express themselves in this way, because they have a memory of being alive in a specific time period.
This is all about learning experientially. How many times, as grownups, do we get the chance to dress-up, let our hair down, have fun, and find magic in our own back yards!!!!!
